Life Experience Degrees Are Gaining Acceptance

By Sue Carpenter

There has long been talk of the school of hard knocks. This fictitious school was one that was all about learning in life. The student would experience ups and downs, successes and failures, good and bad. They would get knocked down and have to find a way to pull themselves back up. All of these experiences would work together to provide a level of wisdom that generally could not be obtained by attending a college or university. This is no longer an imaginary educational opportunity. Finally, there is an opportunity to earn life experience degrees.

Many would accept that getting an education is important. Today the opportunities of having careers with high earning potential rises with the educational level. To be certain, the average businesses require specific levels of education for different occupations. They would not accept a candidate that did not meet this requirement.

There are cases where students complete their college degrees with significantly high grade point averages. Still, when some are on the job they may be unprepared. Parts of their training could be taught by employees that understand the position at a mastery level but could never be promoted because of the absence of a degree. They have book knowledge. But they can be absent of the understanding that living provides. That is, they could be void of the intuition which normally grows from living. So while earning significant salaries they would grow there level of skill and common knowledge.

Many universities and colleges provide the chance to pursue a cooperative education. In this situation students can attend school for a term and work the next term. This rotation could continue until the student finishes college.

When earning an experience degree the situation changes drastically. It is in essence a reverse cooperative education program. The experiences that one has gone through on this earth are credited towards a degree from an institution of higher learning.

For example there could be a person which migrated from another nation. They learned to speak fluent English as well as earn a high school degree while handling three jobs. The person an experience profile that has more to it than what many degrees can offer. There could be an individual that took care of ill parents or their brothers and sisters when they were preteens. They had to cook, balance the checkbook, clean, and serve as a father and a mother. This is solidly formed living education.

When seeking life degrees one may need to be aware of where they apply. There are some schools which are questionable. The seekers should be cautious of these places. There are then those that are legitimate and approved to provide this opportunity. The time associated in researching will sure be worth it.

Life experience degrees continue to increase in popularity. This is because when the planet continues to progress as well as grow wiser, the belief is life would always yield the better education. Any other training, whether medical, business, or engineering, could focus on the important instructions which life provides.
