Many people are highly influenced by celebrities and their behavior. As a society, we watch them on television and in movies and put them on a pedestal. Not only do we become obsessed with the characters they play but also their private lives. You can recognize how much this is true when you see how successful celebrity realty television shows are. The paparazzi are able to make money shooting pictures of celebrities in their private lives because we, as a society, pay money to see these pictures. People become obsessed with the celebrity life and in turn with their assets and possessions.
Celebrities get paid an enourmous amount of money these days for television and movie acting jobs. Especially if they are considered a number one actor or actress in the business. With all of the money they are earning they are able to purchase assets that the majority of the population could not even dream of affording. Most celebrities own and live in multi-million dollar homes. In fact, most celebrities own multiple homes in ideal locations. These houses are enormous and in the best locations, like beachfront properties. Even though our country is currently fighting through a housing crisis, celebrity homes seem to have avoided the same situation. People are willing to spend more money on celebrity homes just for the name recognition. This is true whether a celebrity currently lives in the home or has ever in the past.
Celebrity homes usually have great views and multiple bedrooms, bathrooms and garages. In addition, there are usually tennis courts, pools, theatres, and spas in these homes too. Not only are the homes themselves expensive, but they are decked out with expensive and often imported art and furniture. Sometimes there are even smaller guest homes on the same property.
Celebrities also often have multiple expensive vehicles as well. When you look at the popular celebrity magazines you often see them in photos in their expensive cars. Often times cars have greater sales numbers after a celebrity or many celebrities are associated with driving them and some car companies have even done better business with the public after a celebrity is seen driving in that car. In addition to cars, some celebrities own yachts, jet skis or even private jets.
We are so consumed, as a society with celebrities and their assets that there are television shows that are based on the idea of showing us where celebrities live, what they drive and other possessions that they own. Our society is obsessed with these celebrities and their possessions because they live a life that we can never have or even dream of having.
