Super Music Producers Versus Upcoming Producers

By Stephanie Simpson

Starting in early 2000's, the music industry, principally the communities of hiphop and rnb, resulted in the visibility of what we now call the "super music producers", accounting for chiefs: Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins or The Neptunes.

What the heck is a "super producer"? Okay, the proper example of their difference with a "simple" producer would take the instance of what we call a "supermodel" in fashion, such as Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer or Naomi Campbell. You know these renowned fashion models as well as anybody else and you can see them on all the catwalks. In short: safe values.

This became the same thing in the music industry: there were "big" producers, risk free, that led all of the the projects and were wanted by the most popular singers or rappers. It was always more secured for record label to take advantage of a greatly admired music producer by comparison with a beginner. The famous producer supplied a a wide range of successful singles, in theory. Mainly because at the time big producers sold cd.

However, the music business, after the beginning of the decade has totally changed. To begin with, people don't actually purchase disk anymore.

Which means the record companies give not as much budget for a project. And usually, record companies are no longer looking to spend between $ 100 000 to $ 300 000 for just one single beat, as was the scenario throughout the time of the golden times of music producers. The cd not sell and web starts to develop. To deal with unauthorized downloading of their artists, record companies develop or connect with statutory download platforms and try to force their presence on this internet scene, which has been getting out of their control for a long time.

But the increasing use of the web also has allowed the ascent of loads of unknown producers as good as, if not better than, "Super Producers".

All of these producers have paying attention to the advancement of the Internet, which has permitted these to sell their beats online. Helping them to reach and work with singers or rappers on any nearby scale as well as a world one. A producer from Paris will now be able to promote beats to anybody in Japan. It is really now convenient for them to obtain a really good popularity with a career. For the artists, this makes a really big difference! They are able to buy beats online from home for their album, EP or even mixtape for affordable prices; certainly not those practiced by the "super producers".

Record companies pay a special interest on this modern market. They buy beats online as well. And recently we can see that a few of these internet producers receive signed by majors.

The golden time period of super producers such as the era of super models disappears slowly and gradually, offering way to this brand new market driven by producers who, usually, have nothing to envy to the "super producers".
