Tauheed Epps generally known as 2 Chainz was born on 12/12/77 in College Park, GA. He went to North Clayton Secondary School graduating at the very top of his class. Tauheed advanced to play college basketball at Alabama State University.
In 1997, 2 Chainz, whom at that time went under the stage name Tity Boi formed the southern hip hop group Playaz Circle with childhood pal Dolla Boy. The duo developed a business connection with, then DJ, Ludacris (who later grew to be one of the highest selling rappers in southern hip hop.) The group recorded a few tracks with Ludacris who would play them on his radio station. As Ludacris' popularity began to blast off, he signed Playaz Circle to his record label Disturbing Tha Peace (a subsidiary of Def Jam Records.)
Tity Boi departed Disturbing Tha Peace in 2010, and in early 2011 changed his name to 2 Chainz following critique through his entire career that his name was meant to be derogatory to the ladies. He sensed 2 Chainz could be regarded as a much more family friendly name and proceeded to release a solo mixtape the same calendar year.
Since leaving behind Disturbing Tha Peace, 2 Chainz has released a solo studio album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, under the Def Jam Record label. His 1st solo album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. 2 Chainz has additionally been included on numerous tracks by the hottest hip hop and southern hip hop music artists of the moment such as Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye West, Pusha T, Nicki Minaj and Big Sean, to name some.
2 Chainz is scheduled to put out his 2nd album in 2013.
