By Kary Heberly

Playing poker is something more people have begun doing. Skill, strategy, and luck are all parts of the game of poker. When a person follows the top 10 beginner poker player tips they can understand certain aspects of the game quickly.

The top thing to remember in poker is to not play a hand if the cards are bad. So if it is necessary to fold, go ahead and fold. Playing a bad hand will most of the time lead to losing.

Bluffing just to bluff is not a good habit to get into. Always monitor the other players at the table and how they deal with people that bluff. If an individual always calls when someone bluffs that will most likely continue to happen.

If a player has a good hand but thinks someone else at the table has a better hand then they should still fold. It is important to take into account the cards that everyone at the table has. Look for other players reactions to try and get a feel for everyone's hands.

If a hand turns bad after it started off good then it is a good idea to fold. Even though there were a few bets and money will be lost it is best to just fold rather than lose more money. Be aware of cards that impact another players hand as well.

Trying to secure a good table position is important too. Playing the early positions of a table limits the opportunity to see how everyone else is going to react to the cards. That can lead a person to bet a hand much differently.

Try to remain free of emotion when playing. If there is too much stress or emotion going on then an individual may not think correctly and may bet hands they would not normally bet or not fold when they normally would. Take a hand or two off if emotion runs high.

Paying attention to other players is a key factor. By doing this a player may disclose a key tell that can lead to big dividends later if the same type of situation arises later in the game. Be aware that someone may fake a tell as well.

Try to limit any tells from how you play. Just as this can be used against other players in certain situations they will be looking for tells from you as well. Do not let betting habits form either.

If the money being played with is too important to lose then it should not be played with. Do not go to a high stakes game if that money cannot be lost for any reason. Only play with money that can be lost.

Finding a game that fits the right skill level is important. Playing with more skilled players may help show how certain hands are played but it will also lead to money being lost. Always try to play in games at your level.

Top 10 beginner poker player tips are important for anyone that is new to the game. Make sure to limit the emotions at the table to always keep a clear head. Watch for tells that develop, either your own or others at the table.
