A short while ago, my friend from Utah sent me a cute picture of her and some of her friends covered in bright colored powder and participating in a color run. Before I got that picture in the mail, I had never heard of a color run, but looking at that picture, I was struck with the urge to participate in one. I decided to ask my friend what prompted her to participate and she willingly told me.
She said that she had been feeling a little bit bored, and when she mentioned this to her boyfriend, he smiled secretively and told her to wait a couple of days. Even though she poked and prodded, he would reveal nothing about his mysterious secret. A couple days later, he showed up at her apartment and told her to change into some running clothes and get in his car.
The two of them had gone running together frequently, but she could tell he was up to something else, so she was beside herself with excitement. He drove her across town and when they arrived at their destination, there was an immense crowd gathered there. They pushed their way up to a table which turned out to be a registration table, and they were given a packet of unique items that included a t-shirt and a number to pin on.
She determined that it must be some sort of charity race and she was truly eager to get in a good 5k run. She got ready for a big competition, but as they started running, she was astonished that the feeling of the race was not so much competition, but everyone just seemed to be having a great time. After a couple minutes, she suddenly found that the runners were doused with color. It was an awesome cloud of vibrant colorful powder, and everyone was shouting and laughing as everyone let out their feelings of excitement.
These surprise showers of color simply kept coming every couple minutes, and each time the powder color would change. By the time they reached the finish line, she was covered from head to toe in a bright rainbow of colors. After hearing this, I was inspired and decided to participate in the color run that was going to take place in my city a couple weeks later. It was everything that I pictured and I felt so energized and great just for being covered in delightful colors and being with a happy bunch of good people.
