A special reason for visiting local museums is that they showcase local history of the area in which they're found. If it's your neighborhood that is being honored in this style, you never can say when you begin reading the World War I roster if you may find somebody you know listed there. Or, you could even find the situation of your home on a map that is much more than 100 years of age. These can be thrilling moments for the children, and they're not likely to forget them very soon.

Along with registers and topographical maps, most museums are home to interesting artefacts from bygone days.
