The Positive Effect Of Funny Gym T-shirts

By Russ Howe

One of the biggest laugh out loud moments in our gym came when we saw a member stroll in with the phrase 'You gotta burn it, to earn it!' emblazoned across their chest which brings us to today's quick post. Today we look at the role the funny gym t shirt has taken in the last year or so.

It's now one of the most searched for terms in the fitness community as more and more people look to jump on the cheesy statement bandwagon.

While some use it in a deadly serious 'look at me' manner the majority of us go for a hint of sarcasm and the truth is it can have a great effect on your workout and lifestyle. Why?

* There's a lot to be said for someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously, after all

* It's a top ice breaker with other members

* Funny is always good, your shit will brighten the day of those training around you

But before you go rushing out to pick up a selection of cheesy statements such as "Shut up an squat!" or "Can you call a vet, because these pythons are sick!" you need to be sure of one very important thing which can literally make or break your new favorite workout wear:

Can you pull it off?

You need to find out what works for your body and what doesn't. For example, a bodybuilder would be able to get away with "Get massive, stay massive!" but the average 50kg skinny student wouldn't be. Sure he could be going for tongue-in-cheek in a bid to make the opposite sex laugh, but there is a much larger chance that he'll just open himself up for self ridicule. Remember, there are enough negative people out there to put you down you don't need to do it yourself.

It's becoming an increasingly popular fitness niche among regular trainers and we don't see the trend slowing down any time soon.

So before you push yourself in your next workout consider looking up what's available out there and see if you can add a smile not just to your face but all those around you.
